Heatmap brainstorming sessions

January 4, 2021

One of the planned outputs of the SHEFCE is to develop and pilot an innovative methodology and framework allowing users to gain an insight into the community engagement of universities from different countries, socioeconomic contexts and institutional profiles.

Under the working title of the ‘European University-Community Engagement Heatmap’, the intellectual output will be a online tool (developed in a protype, beta-version) that will allow users to search a limited database of institutions  according to their community engagement activities, offer options to filtering by a range of criteria, allowing to identify areas of high performance and related good practices and present the data in a visually attractive and clear way.

The SHEFCE Heatmap Team consists of

  • Davide Dusi (Ghent University)
  • Bojana Ćulum Ilić /(University of Rijeka)
  • Attila Pausits and Magdalena Fellner (Danube University Krems)
  • Ninoslav Šćukanec Schmidt and Thomas Farnell (Institute for the Development of Education).

Between November 2020 and January 2021 the Heatmap team held four meetings to devlop a stakeholder needs analysis and a proposal on how European University-Community Heatmap could present and visualise institutional data on community engagement in a way that is robust and also meaningful, user-friendly and useful for target groups.

The Heatmap Team aims to develop the Heatmap prototype by summer 2021.
